Box Free
Project Type: Solo
Focus: Level Design, Programming, 2D Art
Software: Unity
Box Free is a 2D puzzle platformer where you have to get out of a warehouse. You play as Ben who works at the magical warehouse which consists of hovering rooms. Ben can switch these rooms with each other with has magic hat. This way he can find the exit.
This assignment has a focus on level design. In this game you can control Ben to walk different directions and you can lead him to the exit. With the mouse you can switch between rooms by selecting two of them.

Since I used rooms to switch I sketched out a paper map first for a first level. I did it in a way that it would look like a storyboard so I could see what the solution would be. You can watch it under it:
After the paper map was created I had a better idea on how to make an MVP (most valuable product) for it. The results you can see here:
No with the MVP I could see how the game could look like. Since the rooms and mechanics were set I was ready to go to create levels and art assets!

If you want to see the levels you can play them on my itch.io!
