Aria is a 3D adventure game where you play as Aria. With the use of Alto, a creature who can transform into a violin, She can overcome obstacles by playing melody's!

This is a project where I worked in a team consisting of 7 people. which consisted of 2 Game Artists, 2 Game Developers, 2 Music & Sound Designers and me as the Game Designer.

The inspiration to make this game came from Super Mario Galaxy. Where you could walk around the area and explore places. Use your powers to overcome obstacles. The idea to use music as a mechanic was to introduce players to play instruments. With the small amount of time we had we went for a violin and focused on Melody's. We wanted to show that the melody's you played would give impact. That is how we came up with the mechanic to control certain animals with the melody's you play.

My focus in this project was mostly on the level design. We came up with the idea to place this game in a forest. So I was looking into how we could make it more of an area rather then a linear level like Super Mario Galaxy does with their levels. As you can see here I began with a simple layout of the level made in Maya.

After some more iterations we changed many things but kept the layout of the level. The artist working who build level from scratch.
